Team CSF Races for Scholarships

csfracingforscholarships-logoOn Sunday, November 1st, three Team CSF members – Kristin, Mackenzie, and Nicholas – ran the 2015 TCS New York City Marathon for Children’s Scholarship Fund.

In addition to running 26.2 miles to fundraise for us, Kristin orchestrated several “Sweat for Scholars” events – a series of fitness workshops with 100% of the ticket sales and donations going towards CSF’s Crowdrise campaign. Her motivation to race for scholarships? Kristin says, “Education is at the core of so many important issues affecting our community from poverty, health, youth pregnancies, crime rates, and so on. A smarter community makes a stronger community in all these respects. Education has opened my eyes to so many issues and inequalities, but most importantly to opportunities. Everyone has blind spots that keep them from recognizing their potential. Knowledge helps to reveal the blind spots to generate new possibilities.”

Mackenzie told us, “So many go without the opportunity for a quality education, so finding a way to bring that to others is huge!” Kristin said she was “excited for the students and their families to have the opportunity every child deserves and I am thankful to pay it forward.”

At the end of the day, the marathon team raised more than $7,615, which will provide close to four full year scholarships in NYC. Thank you and congratulations on racing to the finish line. Go, Team CSF!
