About SCCSF

En Español

The mission of the Southern California Children's Scholarship Fund (SCCSF) is to increase educational opportunity in the Southern California area and beyond by offering partial tuition assistance for children in low-income families.

SCCSF was launched in 1998 as part of the Children's Scholarship Fund (CSF), a national organization that began with a $100,000,000 grant from co-founders Ted Forstmann and John Walton. CSF has affiliated organizations in 30 cities across the United States. Since its founding CSF has provided scholarships for over 96,000 children. Worth Magazine has touted us as one of "America's 100 Best Charities".

We began offering scholarships in September 1999 and this year are sponsoring 1,121 students in Los Angeles, 58 students in San Diego County and 186 students in Orange County. About 400 private schools (including Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Islamic and secular schools) currently participate in our scholarship program. Matching funding is available for new philanthropic partners.
