Philanthropy: Jonathan is a former co-chair of CSF’s YL Board and remains an active participant. In addition, he volunteers as the CFO for “Portfolios with Purpose”, which he describes as “fantasy football” for stock traders. Players compete for their favorite charity, and Jonathan’s charity is CSF!

Jonathan Brand is an active member and former co-chair (2 years) of the Young Leaders Board, which provides opportunities for young professionals in New York who are dedicated to our mission and inspired to give back. Jonathan is currently an associate on the trading desk at Cohen & Steers and has been in his current role since April 2014. Prior to Cohen & Steers, he worked in the Risk & Performance Group at Ziff Brothers Investments.
Since he was younger, Jonathan has been interested in giving back to the community and became more involved with philanthropic causes in college. After moving to New York and settling into his career, he found CSF’s Young Leaders Board through college friends and has been committed to spreading awareness about CSF ever since. Jonathan believes that “the combination of education and environment are the true keys to unlocking potential. CSF does both of these things, and more importantly it targets communities that need to foster better learning environments and provide better educational opportunities.”
From his passion to give back, he recently became involved with Portfolios with Purpose (PWP) as its CFO. Jonathan is excited to share the opportunity that Portfolios with Purpose provides to individuals who are inspired to support their charity of choice in a fun and competitive way. Jonathan encourages CSF supporters to get involved and consider playing for the benefit of CSF!
PWP is a charitable organization with a mission to raise awareness and support for impactful charities by providing them with a platform to reach new potential supporters and donors.
Described as “fantasy football for trading,” Portfolios with Purpose hosts annual stock-selection competitions in which each participant competes on behalf of his / her favorite charity. All entry and trading fees go directly to charity. Jonathan told us, “What better way to foster a little competition through investing and supporting the charity you care most about.
